Fairy House Candle Holder
Most people like candles and I really like making fairy houses, so I made a fairy house candle holder. One of the benefits of clay is it's versatility. I made this piece on the potter's wheel in two pieces and joined them together after they could be handled. I used a red-brown, mid-fire clay with light sand, for strength and texture. I melted sky blue glass on the inside and it love the contrast with the black hat and clay body.
This fairy house has a black top hat for a roof that I left open on top, so someone can easily access a candle.
On the body of the fairy house, I carved a door, windows and vegetation. I used stamps for the flowers and dragonflies and painted it by hand.
