Fairy Houses In The Kiln
Spring is around the corner so I've been busy making fairy houses. I have two large and two medium sized houses that just finished bisque firing yesterday and I am really excited to start adding layers of underglaze to highlight the texture of these beautiful pieces of real estate.
This is one of the large houses and I used a brick texture on the house and added rocks around the door and window. I love to use witch hats for roofs and this house has a big hat with a great curve at the tip.
This medium sized fairy house has a wood texture on the body of the house and a witch hat for a roof. I added two awnings over the windows with fish scale textures and a fossil above the doorway.
This large fairy house has a stone texture and the roof is a mix between a witch's hat and a log. I wanted the top to be open like a hollow log but every house needs eaves, so I compromised.
This medium sized fairy house has delicate yarrow leaves from my garden pressed into the clay body, in addition to dragonflies and frogs stamped into the clay. A stone textured chimney is on the backside of the house (not shown here). I cant wait to hand paint all the details on this house.
