Learning New Skills During Covid-19

Like many others Artists, I have a full-time job during the day and create art at night and on weekends. In March, when the Austin area went on lock down in response to covid-19, I began working from home. As work encroached on my personal space, I felt my creativity stifle. I gave myself permission to take a creative break and after a few months I challenged myself to learn a new skill, colored pencil. I have really enjoyed learning how to layer the colors and burnish them for a smooth finish. I have been practicing with mixed media and really like watercolor and ink/pencil. I have primarily sold ceramic art on my website but I also work with wood and watercolor and hope to add some watercolor pieces in 2021.

My pottery studio is surrounded by my gardens and I have been grateful for the additional time at home to appreciate the beauty nature brings. Being home to watch Spring turn to Summer, and now Summer to Fall I have focused on creating ceramic pieces for my personal gardens. I will be making new pieces over the holidays and look forward to adding more to my store.
