Skull & Crossbones Toad House
I wanted to create a Toad house inspired by a place I remember from a dream. The place was deep in a forest with a thick canopy blocking most of the sunlight from the floor below. Skulls holding burning candles on top of wooden poles were in a perimeter around a solitary house.
The roof is a tall witch's hat glazed with a matte black to represent the looming darkness of that place. The body is glazed in an Ice celadon so you can see the hand painted plant impressions and two skull and crossbones on each side of the door.
This piece has a hairline crack along the stem of the plant impression, so I have happily added this toad house to my front garden. It is located in front of my Turk's Cap plant, which is in full bloom. The black hat looks great in front of the bright red blooms, but it's been raining or its been dark so I haven't been aable to snap a picture.
